Once you've mastered all three, you've mastered algebra.
Solving an equation is finding the unknown value:
In the above example the unknown value is x. In the end we found it is equal to 3. To solve equations you need to learn to abide by rules that help you find the missing value.
Graphing an equation is taking the equation and representing it with a picture on the coordinate plane.
The above picture is a graph of an equation. It is fairly simple because it is a line, however they do get kind of complicated later on, when we have more complex equations.
And last but not least, we need to learn how to apply math into real life. We must learn how to take our real life problems, that we explain with words, and learn to translate them into math and numbers. An example:
A board game contains 35 total coins. There are 6 black coins, and 21 blue coins. How many coins are there of other colors?
35-6-21=x
8=x
This example if fairly easy to turn into a solvable equation, however in the future the word problems will get more complex.
